Specialist production support

Print preparation

Supplied artwork, carefully adapted for commercial print.

We help organisations and smaller agencies move from a file that looks right on screen to one that works reliably in production.

Where we help

Technical care without an unnecessary redesign

Some artwork is creatively resolved but not ready for the realities of commercial print. We inspect what has been supplied, identify the production risks and make the changes needed for a dependable result.

01

File assessment & preflight

We check the supplied material against the intended process, format and finishing requirements before production begins.

02

Resizing & versioning

Master artwork can be adapted into a controlled family of sizes, formats or production versions.

03

Colour & image handling

Colour spaces, image quality, transparency and output settings are reviewed for the selected print process.

04

Bleed, dielines & finishing

Artwork is aligned with trim, folds, cutters, white ink, overprint or other job-specific production requirements.

05

Technical corrections

We resolve practical file issues while protecting the supplied design and flag anything that needs a creative decision.

06

Printer-ready handoff

Final files are prepared to the agreed specification, with clear version control and support through the production handoff.

Useful to know

Print preparation questions

Is print preparation the same as redesign?

Not necessarily. Print preparation focuses on making supplied artwork work reliably in commercial production while preserving the intended design. If a file needs a more substantial design change, we will identify that before proceeding.

What can MakeReady check or correct?

Depending on the job, preparation can include file assessment, sizing and versioning, colour and image checks, bleed, dielines and finishing setup, technical corrections and printer-ready output.

Can MakeReady work with our existing printer?

Yes. We can prepare files to your nominated printer’s specifications and support the technical handoff.

Can one master artwork be adapted into several formats?

Yes. Supplied artwork can be adapted into a controlled set of sizes, formats or production versions where the source material is suitable.

Have files that need to work harder?

Send us what you have, where it needs to run and any printer specifications already available. We’ll assess the practical next step.
